Dystonia Diary

This is what it's like to have cervical dystonia - the good, the bad, and the ugly. Actually, there's nothing good about it.

Waiting

I'm still waiting for another Botox treatment. Hopefully I'll get it this month, but the Dr may wait to see how I'm doing. It's been almost 4 months since my last treatment, and I'm surprised (and glad) that it's lasted this long.

Since my job has gotten harder, my neck keeps getting worse. It's twisted around to the right as far as it can go, so I'm having a lot of trouble seeing straight ahead. I have mild tension headaches almost constantly, and the neck pain is getting worse as the muscles get tighter. The stress at work is making me a nutcase, and if I'm not careful it affects the way I deal with customers. Not good!

Surprisingly, I've only been getting about 20 hours a week at work. That's about all I can handle, and since the night managers know I have limited ability, they don't expect me to knock myself out to get the job done. I can't wait for the holiday season to end, because then there won't be as much of a mess in the store to straighten up. Hopefully that will mean less stress.
